On Rachel’s maternal side, the Fisher family, as the name might or might not suggest, were mariners and even today Rachel has a number of navy officers as cousins. The family lived for several generations around Hoylake on the Wirral and prior to that, across the Mersey in Liverpool itself. With Jemima and Phoebe at University in Liverpool, I shall be doing more research on the Wallace and Fisher families and have already visited some of the houses where Rachel’s ancestors lived.
The Fisher family stories begin with Rachel’s mother, Grannie Anita’s family, and go back through the male line of Anita’s father.
