On Rachel’s paternal side, the Wallace family are city dwellers, living for many generations in the city of Liverpool. They are skilled craftsman, working with marble. The Wallace marble polishing business employed a dozen or more men in its hayday and was passed down the generations, eventually down to Rachel’s grand uncle rather than grandfather. If that hadn’t been the case, her father may have become a marble polisher rather than university lecturer and I might not have had the good fortune to marry her. Such is the silver lining of inheritance!
The Wallace family stories begin with Rachel’s family, and go back through the male line of her father.
We also cover the stories of some of the notable families that married the Wallace ancestors.
Places We Lived
The Wallace ancestors have lived in Liverpool for many generations. I’ve collated old photos and postcards for some of the places they lived which I will continue to add below – click to take a look at more.
My Research Trips and Visits
I continue to visit the places our ancestors lived, and I’ll continue to add them here.
